レッド・ホット・チリ・ペッパーズの創設メンバーであり、
バンドの精神的支柱だったヒレル・スロヴァク。
フリーにベースの手ほどきをし、
アンソニーにファンクの真髄を説いた彼は、
二人にとって文字通り「無二の親友」でした。

しかし1988年、ヒレルは急逝。
あまりに早すぎる別れに、
アンソニーは自伝で
「世界から色彩が消え去った」と、
その深い喪失感を綴っています。

絶望の淵から立ち上がった二人、
再始動のステージでフリーが放った言葉。

「Everything we ever do from now on is dedicated to Hillel Slovak.」
訳：今後の全てを、ヒレルスロヴァクに捧げる

これにアンソニーも頷く。

この言葉は結成から40年以上が経った今もなお、
レッチリというバンドを突き動かす揺るぎない共通信念であり続けています。

Hillel Slovak, a founding member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the band’s spiritual pillar.
He taught Flea the fundamentals of bass and instilled the essence of funk into Anthony; to both, he was truly an “irreplaceable best friend.”
In 1988, Hillel’s life was cut tragically short.
Facing a farewell that came far too soon,
Anthony reflected in his autobiography that “the color drained from the world,” capturing his profound sense of loss.
Rising from the depths of despair, the two stood on stage for their first performance since his passing and declared
“Everything we ever do from now on is dedicated to Hillel Slovak.”
This vow made by Flea remains, even now—more than 40 years after the band’s inception—the unshakable core belief that continues to drive the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
